    SERVICING INFORMATION
    HOOD LOCK: 01 - Pull out hood release lever directly below emblem in center of grille to release hood. The hood will snap
    partly open. Reach in abo ve top of grille just left of the center, with hand or finger and pull safety catch forward to fully
    release hood. 10, 20, 80 - To release hood reach in at front of hood, just right of the center, and trip the release lever upward
    with finger tips. This will unlock hood catch and permit hood to be raised. Counter balance springs will hold hood in raised
    position.
    BATTERY LOCATION: 6 - Under hood on left side. V8 - Under hood on right side. Size - 12 volts on all. 01 - 42 plates,
    40 ampere ho urs. 10 - 42 plates - 45 ampere hours. 20, 80 - 54 plates, 50 ampere hours. 80 all; 10, 20, 80 with air condition-
    ing - 66 plates, 60 ampere hours. Negative terminal grounded.
    COOLING SYSTEM DRAIN: Drain cock at bottom, left side of radiator. Engine: 6 – Drain on lower left side of black. V-8 -
    Drain on each side of block, near center.
    PRESSURE COOLING: Valve in cap set at 13 pounds. Caution – Turn cap about 1/4 turn counterclockwise to stop to allow
    any pressure to be relieved through the overflow plpe. Then push cap down and turn counterclockwise until the cap can be
    removed.
    POWER SAVER FAN - Optional on Ambassador.
    GAS TANK FILLER: In left rear fender panel.

    LUBRICATION SERVICE INFORMATION
    Figures and numerals printed in italies and enclosed in parenthesis, as (D. 1), re fer
    to illus trations and descriptions appearing on the Mobilubrication Dise Chart which
    are applicable to 1960 construction.
    TRANSMISSION, CONVENTIONAL (D-1) & OVERDRIVE (D-4): Check lubricand level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as
    required. Drain and refill every 10,000 miles or seasonally. Never steam clean or use keronine or solvents to flush housing
    Fill er Op ening and Level Gauge.
    Conventional Transmis sion - Plug in right side of transmission housing.
    Overdrive Transmi s sion - Plug in right side of overdrive housing.
    Drain: One plug in bottom of each housing.
    FLASH-O-MA TIC (D-5): Optional - Check fluid level every 1000 miles with engine at normal temperatures and carburetor at
    slow idle. A pply hand brake. To check level: On American- Move selector lever through all driving ranges and stop at "N"
    position. On others -Disengage "Park" lever, push the D2, D1, L and R buttons and then punh the N button. Mainta in level
    of F mark with Mobilfluid 200. It takes 1% pints to raise level from L to F mark on dipstick.
    Drain and refill housing every 15,000 miles.
    See Mobilubrication Bulletin "Correct Lubrication of Automatic and Semi-Automatic Transmissions" for complete
    and approved instructions.
    REAR AXLE (HYPOID GEARS) (D-6): Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain and refill
    every 10,000 miles or seas onally. Never steam clean or use kerosine or solvents to flush housing.
    TWIN-GRIP: Limited slip differential optional. Dana type with plates on 20.80. Warner type with cones and coil springs on
    01 and 10. Use Mobilube GX 90.
    Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Plug in rear of housing.
    Drain: Plug in bottom of housing.
    DISTRIBUTOR: (E-1): O1, 10- Apply Mobiloil Arctic to wick under rotor, breaker pivot and felt wick between vacuum ad-
    vance plates every 5000 miles. Grease cam sparingly with Mobilgrease No. 5 or MP every 5000 miles. 20, 80 - Replace wick
    in cam when breaker points are replaced.
    OIL FILTER: (K-1): Partial flow is optional on 6. Full flow is standard on V8. Replace element or filter every 5000 miles.
    Filter on V8 is reached from below.
    AIR CLEANER: (K-2):
    Oil-bath type on 01, 10. Remove oll from reservoir of this type every 1000 miles. Clean reservoir and element
    in Sovasol No. 5. Refill reservoir with a pint of Mobiloil AF in Summer and Mobilotil Arctic in Win ter. Do not oil element for
    excess ol will drain into reservoir and raise oil above recommended level.
    Dry element type on 01, 10; 20, 80. Remo ve air cleaner cover. Remove filter element and shake off the dust by
    jarring it against solid object. Do not use compressed air or any solvent cleaner on this element. Under normal driving con-
    ditions, clean element every 1000 miles and replace it every 10,000 miles. In dusty areas the element should be cleaned every
    day or oftener.
    CRANKCASE VENTILATOR AIR CLEANER: Clean mesh in oll filler cap with Sovasol No. 5 every 1000 miles. Dip it in
    clean Mobilol AF before replacing.
    LINKAGE: 10, 20, 80 – Apply Mobiloil Arctic to felt wick on throttle linkage and transmission shift linkage every 1000 miles.
    POWER BRAKES: Optional on 10, 20, 80 - Clean air cleaner every 10,000 miles.
    POWER STEERING, LINKAGE TYPE (K-3): Optional on 10, 20, 80. Every 1000 miles remo ve reservoir cover and check fluid
    level. Maintain fluid 1 inch below top of reservoir. Use Mobilfluid 200.
    RINGS: Air Coil" optional at rear on 10, 20, 80. Air spring is mounted inside the coil spring. Compressor is lubri-

    cated with oil from the engine. Reservoir mounted under left front fender has a drain and emergency refill valve at bottom.
    Depress valve stem every 1000 miles, or more frequently during cold spells, to eliminate any accumulation of water. In an
    emergency, apply air hose to this valve to refll the system. Remove air filter every 1000 miles and clean it in Sovasol No. 5.
    Blow dry with compressed air.
    AIR CONDITIONING: Optional on 10, 20, 80 – Change filter yearly, or more often if necessary.
