    Description

1987 Volvo 240 DL Wagon. Automatic. I am the owner since 2006. The car is in overall great shape for its age and still runs strong. It has been routinely maintained, and is inspected through 3/2022. The odometer stopped working in 2009 at 119k. This is not my primary vehicle, and for the last decade only driven occasionally to run errands. I estimate the mileage to be around 160k.
The catalytic converter was replaced in February, the exhaust system in 2018 (Starla Replacement Kit), and the brake pads/calipers/rotors in 2016. Keep in mind the car is driven less than 2k miles/yr. Tires are in excellent condition with plenty of life left on them. New battery in 2020. Various other parts have been replaced or updated over the years as needed: windshield wiper motor, tailgate struts, fuel pump relay and fuse holder, various bulbs and lenses. The suspension is solid, it handles well and rides smooth. The seats and headrests are in great shape. Windows roll down easily. The central door locking system works. Headlights, taillights, blinkers, horn etc. are all in working order as is required by PA state inspection.
The car does have some flaws. On occasion if it hasn't been driven for awhile I have to pump the gas pedal once or twice for it to turnover. Recently the “Brake Failure” light has come on. It was determined by my mechanic to be the brake junction box. Although the brakes do work, I wouldn't recommend driving long distances until this has been addressed. The climate controls are iffy - the fan produces a loud rattle if turned past 2 and the A/C doesn’t get cold. The OEM radio powers on but doesn’t function and the antenna is missing. The rear wiper stopped working. The plastic lever that folds down the back seat broke so you have to manually pull the wire to release it. When the seat is upright one catch bar is missing so it doesn't latch on the passenger side, however the seat stays up fine with the working latch.
Cosmetically there’s some wear and tear as shown in the photos: scratch/dent on the driver-side rear, a small ding in the center of the roof, bottom trim missing on one side, small spots of rust and/or blistering. The interior is in fair condition: dashboard cracks, dirt behind the display, small tears in the roof lining, stains on the cargo area, missing the fuse cover and a couple plastic trim pieces.
Please take a close look at the photos and ask any questions before bidding. I'm not a mechanic but will give my best answers and be forthcoming about the condition. I have the title certificate and maintenance records. These 240 wagons are classics and getting harder to find in good condition. She's been a great car to me, and hopefully with some TLC will continue to live on for many more years. Thanks for looking.
