31st (Alberta Regiment) Bn, CEF. Gilt and enamel badged place marker. RARE
Excellent condition and superbly detailed place marker used, as I understand as part of formal Battalion Mess and Reunion Dinners to hold place cards of the attendees at their table places.
Card holder measures 82 mm (3 1/4 inches) high X 62 mm (2 3/8 inches) wide. Multi-piece construction with each rifle separately applied, along with rear support, to a maple leaf, a circle to receive the card attached, then to which a collar-size enamel badge is affixed to the larger leaf.  Beautiful enamel and gilt finish.   Great detail and exquisite workmanship
