William Collard was born in Tiddington, Somerset in 1882, and having emigrated to Canada attested for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 14 June 1915, serving with the 3rd Battalion, Canadian Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front. He served 4 years in the Hampshire Regiment and was a pre-war member of the 106th Winnipeg Light Infantry Militia. Hea attested in June 1915 at Winnipeg and was reported missing but turned up at a Field Hospital, he died in 1947.
