measures 50 mm (2 inches) high X 79 mm (3 inches) wide.
Maker marked on reverse " SCULLY LTD.MONTREAL". Exceptionally rare item, particularly in this first-class condition.
Historical Note:
At the outbreak of war in 1914, Newfoundland had no existing military force aside from the small Newfoundland Royal Naval Reserve.  Notwithstanding, the genesis of a Military force resided in the several Cadet Corps sponsored by the major religious denominations.  At mobilisation, the various Cadet Corps united their efforts to form and train the initial cadre of the Newfoundland Regiment.
