    Description

    Shark Tooth
    PALEO CARCHARODON
    Shark Tooth
    PALEOCARCHARODON
You are bidding on a shark tooth.  This is approximately 37x34 mm.   These are from the Eocene period (60 million years old) from Morocco
This specimen has both side teeth and there has been no repair done on it.
    Palaeocarcharodon
    , also known as the
    pygmy white shark
, is a genus of sharks in the family Cretoxyrhinidae.
    Palaeocarcharodon orientalis
is the only species of this genus. These sharks lived in the Paleocene, from 62- 55 million years ago..  It is up for debate if this is an ancestor of the great white shark.
When I purchased these, I put a few in my pocket and walked around with them.  Later in the day, I noticed blood running down my leg.  I'm only stating this to tell you they are still sharp!  All the teeth I have are about this same size, but I have heard of ones that are 3 inches
